On Wednesday 12th July, Margie Haslop from the Chernobyl Children’s Project UK visited Christ Church Academy. The Academy made contact with Margie after reading an article in the Stone Gazette. She was presented with 60 brand new school jumpers which featured the old Christ Church Middle School logo so were no longer of use to us.
Margie was delighted to take the jumpers off our hands and speaking after the visit to CCA said
“Thank you very much indeed for the kindness you have shown to our Belarusian friends with the donation of the jumpers. The children often come across with very little so to be able to dress the 10 children in the blue tops will help us tremendously.”
The children aged 9 to 11 are all in remission from cancer. They will be staying in the local area with hosts for a month’s recuperative holiday which will enhance their immune systems and stamina as well as raising their spirits.
Throughout the year, the charity also build a clothing bank ready for the children’s arrival and are also in need of large wheeled suitcases.
The Academy look forward to working with Margie and the charity again in the future. For further information or to get involved like CCA have, then please visit http://www.chernobyl-children.org.uk/local-groups/stafford-2
