Swynnerton, July 8th: warm sunshine and a great turnout blessed the return of St Mary’s Summer Fair.
Over 200 people came to the village hall to browse the stalls and sample the refreshments.
“The hog roast was so succulent, we could have sold twice the number, “ said organiser Steve Parkhouse. “The cream teas were really scrumptious, too.”
There was the chance of winning on the raffle and tombola, and lots of items on the bric-a-brac stall to sort through. The children were entertained outside, decorating cakes and playing badminton. But for visitors old enough to remember them, the star of the show was a Green Goddess Fire Engine from the sixties – still in perfect condition.
