Izaak Walton Fishery in Chebsey has new owners in the form of George & Trisha.
The couple, originally from Leigh in Greater Manchester, bought the historic fishery in August and have been busy improving the site by re-stocking the pools, cutting back the overgrown trees, running regular matches, updating the cafe and its menu.
Vinnie from Embers in Stone has just installed a wood burning stove in the cafe, so it’ll be nice and toasty over the forthcoming Winter months.
George told the Gazette
“The local community have been most welcoming especially the volunteers Vincent, Bill and Martin in helping to make the improvements and thank you too to Andy from A&A tackle for promoting the fishery through his tackle shop in Stafford”
The 11 acre spring fed fishery has four well stocked pools, as well as fishing available on the river Sow, the same stretch of river where Izaak Walton, the celebrated author of the ‘Compleat Angler’ spent many a day fishing, when he lived nearby in Shallowford.
