MEIR HEATH OKTOBERFEST COMMUNITY DAY

Meir Heath OKTOBERFEST Community Day & hog roast on14th October is a new event to promote community activities available in the local area and provide a fun day for families and individuals.

The venue for the event is St Francis Church, Sandon Road, Meir Heath from 12 noon to 4pm. This is a free event with a small charge of £5 for the hog roast, sides and soft drink (£2.50 for children).

And of course, no Oktoberfest would be complete without a beer tent for the adults featuring a variety of beers and wines.

The event is being hosted by St Francis church with the help and support of County Councillor Ian Parry, who has provided financial assistance from his Local Community Fund. Ian, who represents the division that includes Fulford Ward, sees this initiative as being very much in line with the aims of the “Connected Staffordshire” initiative.

Keith Wheeldon, from St Francis Parochial Church Council, said

“The church is very grateful for the funding from the Staffordshire Local Community Fund operated by the County Council.

There are now many initiatives running in and around Meir Heath. We decided to provide a platform for community based groups to show what they have to offer. At the same time local people can come together to enjoy an afternoon of fun with food, children’s activities, demonstrations and entertainment. Other local groups are still welcome, so please contact us if you would like to be part of our Oktoberfest.”
