Midlands 2 West (North).

Midlands Intermediate Cup Round 2; Leek took the journey into North Derbyshire for the tie against Dronfield, a 17 – 25 final score saw the North Staffordshire team safely into the 3rd round. Walsall were on the road to Worcestershire, but found themselves on the wrong end of a 36 – 8 loss against a strong Droitwich performance. With Newcastle & Tamworth out in round 1 and Walsall falling in round 2, Leek remain as the only Staffordshire representative in this cup.

Midlands 3 West (North).

Midlands Senior Vase Round 2; Barton had a difficult afternoon with a 58 – 0 loss at Vipers. Willenhall couldn’t make the game at Ledbury giving the homes side the win. A visiting Uttoxeter put up a good display but a 22 – 12 final score saw the win going to Nottingham Moderns. Cannock hosted Leicester Forest working their way to a 30 – 28 victory. Trentham were on the road to Ashby, with the visitors coming away empty handed 67 – 14. Handsworth hosted Daventry, the result of 32 – 31 giving the hosts a narrow 1-point lead. Stafford battled hard but a score of 5 – 6 saw them losing by 1 point to a strong Long Eaton performance. With Burntwood not in the competition; Barton, Stafford, Trentham, Uttoxeter & Willenhall falling in round 2; Cannock & Handsworth remain as the only Staffordshire representatives in this cup.

Midlands 4 West (North) & Midland 5 West (North).

Bloxwich travelled to Warwickshire, a 22 – 66 final score giving the visitors a comprehensive win against Trinity Guild. Atherstone couldn’t make their fixture giving the win to Eccleshall. Rugeley were on the road to Stoke Old Boys, the result of 66 – 26 leaving the visitors with the loss. League leaders Wednesbury hosted Pershore with an impressive performance producing a good final win of 22 – 17. St Leonards welcomed Market Drayton, the county town team grinding out a 15 – 8 win. With Essington not in the competition; Gnosall & Linley out in round 1; Rugeley falling in round 2; Bloxwich, Eccleshall, St Leonards & Wednesbury provide a healthy pool of Staffordshire teams for round 3.
