Katharine House Hospice has decorated its Christmas tree in preparation for the annual Light up a Life service on Sunday 10th December, with its lights sponsored by Staffordshire-based marketing consultancy MMS which has supported the service for 14 years.
The 20ft tree, forms the focal point of the annual appeal, which sees local people celebrating the life of someone special, as a light shines in their honour this Christmas.
Appeals Fundraiser, Amy Ratcliffe said:
“Each light represents two sides of a special story… On the one hand the life of a person no longer with us and on the other, through the people they knew, they are still helping us to ensure that patients and their families share the best Christmas possible.
“Last year over 2,000 lights shone on the Christmas tree which makes for a really poignant centrepiece for carols, prayers and joint remembrance of those people loved and missed.”
Supporters who have dedicated a light are invited to the service around the tree on Sunday 10th December, at 5.00pm, when the lights will be switched on.
Holly Addison, Corporate Fundraiser, said:
“We are truly grateful for the continued and loyal support from MMS. This will be the 14th year they have supported our Light Up A Life Appeal which is incredible! It is such a special appeal to so many people and it is wonderful that it is supported by local businesses too!”
Danielle Mitton, Managing Director of MMS said:
“We have supported Katharine House Hospice with this appeal for the past 14 years because we feel that Katharine House Hospice is a very worthy cause and it is always a pleasure to support the Light up a Life appeal. We really hope that the hospice has a record year in terms of donations, as every penny raised makes a significant difference to the lives of local people cared for by the hospice”.
