Stafford College will welcome visitors to their Open Event on Saturday 17 February, between 10am and 12noon, to help Year 11 school pupils choose the right course for their future career success.
Visitors touring the campus will get a feel for College life by talking to current students and staff, getting involved in subject demonstrations and receiving course advice regarding the huge range of A Level, vocational and apprenticeship pathways on offer.
Staff from the College will also provide guidance on the excellent range of support on offer, from financial help and additional learner support to extra-curricular enrichment opportunities.
Karen Dobson, Principal and Chief Executive of Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group, said:
“The aim of our Open Events is to provide school leavers with the full range of options available, so that they can make an informed choice about their future studies. Choosing the right college is an important decision. We have recently expanded our course offering and committed significant investment to enhancing campus facilities, we would urge anyone considering going to college in September to come along and take a look at what we have to offer.”
Since the merger between Stafford College and Newcastle-under-Lyme College in November 2016, the College has invested over £3.5 million to transform the campus facilities and create a modernised and inspiring learning environment for its students, which now has some of the facilities in the county.
The College’s state-of-the-art facilities include the recently renovated Science & Technology Centre. Covering four floors, top-class facilities include robotics suites, biology, chemistry, physics and engineering laboratories, IT suites and a LEGO® Education Innovation Studio. In the College’s Riverbank building, a brand-new Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy Academy has been created as well as new socialising spaces for students, which includes a Coffee Lounge serving Costa Coffee and a refurbished food hall.
The Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) has some of the best results in the county. A Level pass rates place them in the top 10% of further education colleges in the country, with an above average pass rate of 98.8%. The group’s apprenticeship results make them the 8th best further education provider for apprenticeships in England. Stafford College’s vocational results alone include a 98.1% pass rate with 178 students achieving a triple distinction grade or higher, which is equivalent to three A/A*s at A Level.
Courses are available in a wide range of subjects including 22 different A Level subjects plus vocational subjects in Art & Design, Applied Science, Business, Childcare, Computing, Construction, Engineering, Hair & Beauty, Health & Social Care, Hospitality & Catering, Music & Performing Arts, Public Services, Sport, Travel & Tourism with Events & Vehicle Mechanics.
As well as giving course advice to school leavers, staff will be on hand to provide course advice to adults on Stafford College’s part-time and university-level courses and qualifications.
