The members of Stone and District Stroke Club will be visiting the RAF Museum at Cosford in June, with the help of Stone Lions Club who have generously paid for the cost of hiring a coach to provide transport.
Since its formation in 1985, the Stroke Club has welcomed hundreds of people who have experienced strokes, offering members a much needed opportunity to socialise and providing an essential break for their carers.
The weekly meetings include games, cards, quizzes and gentle exercises, with regular visits from local singing groups and speakers during the winter months. During the summer months several outings are arranged in the local area, with the occasional longer distance trip as funds permit.
The club, which is funded by donations and occasional grants, meets from 10.30am to 2.30pm every Wednesday at Little Stoke Cricket Club on the Uttoxeter Road. Members pay a weekly subscription of £7, which covers the cost of coffee and biscuits when they arrive, a two-course hot meal, transport if required (in the Stone area), a raffle ticket and subs.
There are currently two places available at Stroke Club and if you, or someone you know, are interested in coming along to see what is on offer, please call Stella Winsor on 01785 6037078.
