Community Poppy Project

Examples of the poppies, on display as part of the table setting for the Civic Dinner on April 21st.

As everyone must now be aware, this year sees the centenary of the end of the Great War.

In preparation for the forthcoming commemoration, Lin Davies, in conjunction with the Oak Tree Farm Rural Project plus other people and organisations in Stone, is aiming to create one thousand hand-made ceramic poppies.

They will be displayed in November in St Michael’s & St Wulfad’s Church ready for the major commemorative service on Sunday the 11th.

To help fund the project individuals and organisation are invited to sponsor these poppies at £15 each. After November 11th sponsors will receive one poppy for every £15 they’ve paid.

Once the cost of production has been taken into account the surplus will be divided between the Royal British Legion (Stone Branch), the Oak Tree Farm Rural Project and St Michael’s & St Wulfad’s church.

Lin is also inviting people to knit or crochet fabric poppies to add to the display.
