A team from Leek United kicks off against The Donna Louise at Stoke City FC’s bet365 Stadium this weekend as part of a fundraising goal for the North Staffordshire charity.
The football ‘friendly’ on Saturday 26 May is just one of a series of events that Leek United staff are planning throughout this year to help the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice in Stoke-on-Trent.
Dan Berrisford, the Society’s Mortgage and Savings Manager – who helped to organise Saturday’s match – said:
“It should be a great day, and we’d love as many colleagues, friends and family as possible to turn out and support both teams.
“Players are paying £5 each for the privilege of taking part – which should give the fundraising a good boost – but we’ve no idea what we’ll be up against on the pitch!”
Chris Belyavin, Relationship Manager at The Donna Louise, added:
“We’re all really excited about the match. The Donna Louise team includes family members of the children and young adults who use our service, as well as local supporters, and they’re all really looking forward to playing at the bet365 stadium.
“Leek United has been a great supporter of The Donna Louise for some time, and on behalf of the families who rely on our services, I’d like to say a big thank you for their ongoing support – even though I might be cheering for Team Donna Louise at the weekend!”
Other Donna Louise fundraising events planned by the Society include a Three Peaks Challenge event later this summer.
Admission to the Leek United v Donna Louise match on Saturday is just £2. Gates at the bet365 stadium open at 1.30pm, with kick-off at 2.30pm.
