Lord Digby does lunch for hospice

Hospice Trustee Barry Baggott with Lord Digby Jones.

Members of the local business community enjoyed an audience with the legendary Lord Digby Jones at a business lunch in support of Katharine House Hospice on April 10.

Stone’s Aston Marina was the setting for Katharine House Hospice’s first business lunch. More than 100 businessmen and women enjoyed lunch and had the opportunity to network with other businesses. The attendees were thoroughly captivated by a spellbinding talk from Lord Digby Jones, drawn from his illustrious career at the forefront of British business as Director General of the CBI, Minister of State for UK Trade and Investment.

Lord Digby shared his views on such topics as Brexit, the importance of nurturing today’s youth to be the business leaders of tomorrow and the vital need for hospices. The hospice was taken aback with Lord Digby’s generosity as he revealed all proceeds from the sale at the event of his personally signed new book ‘Fixing Business’ will be going straight to the hospice.

Katharine House is extremely grateful to Aston Marina for hosting the event in their superb Boat House function suite and to Tree of Life for sponsoring the event, ensuring it did not cost a penny for the hospice to run. The business lunch was so well received that the hospice team is hoping to plan another soon.

Katharine House Corporate Fundraiser Holly Addison said:

“It was wonderful to see so many local businesses in one room and making new connections. Lord Digby Jones gave a hugely engaging, informative and honest talk about the current business economy. Lord Digby Jones has also very generously donated 100 per cent of the money raised from selling his books during the event to Katharine House Hospice. For the first Katharine House Hospice business lunch, it couldn’t have been more successful and I would like to thank everyone for their support.”

Katharine House Hospice relies on the kindness and generosity of the local community – including local businesses and groups – to help fund its vital free care services.
