Tittensor racer Gary Freeman, kicked off his 2018 CRMC season at Pembrey, with a solid start, slowly improving his results as the weekend went on, in the 350cc Twins Class he earned, a 5th , 4th and 3rd place finishes, in the main ACU 500 race he claimed his first win of the weekend.
Gary said afterwards,
“I’m always a bit rusty after the winter layoff my confidence was growing all weekend and to come first in the 350cc Class of the ACU 500 race was great, I’m all fired up for the next round at Snetterton now.”
The next round of the CRMC Championships was held at the Norfolk Circuit Snetterton over the weekend of 28th / 29th of April.
Gary continued his multi championship title challenge over the weekend at a very cold and wet Snetterton circuit which saw many fallers in the treacherous conditions.
Saturday Qualifying was a disaster ending 13th as the bike developed a fault while qualifying, however Gary managed to claw his way through the field in the first race to finish 7th in class in the tricky conditions, moving on to the second race he made up two more places to finish 5th in class keeping his championship chances alive.
By now he was getting used to the tricky conditions and in the 3rd race of the weekend he worked his way up to finish in 2nd place, with his confidence ever growing he had a tremendous tussle to cross the line half a wheel behind his fellow competitor to take a very close and well-earned 2nd place.
Gary said afterwards
“ These were the trickiest conditions I have ridden in, but I’m happy to get the results as it wasn’t what I expected given the weather and problems with the bike.”
Gary’s Next Outing is at Oulton Park, Cheshire over the 3 days of the 26th to 28th May
