Eccleshall Festival 2018 – What’s On Saturday 16th – Sunday 24th June

Saturday 16th  & Sunday 17th June

The Eccleshall Festival takes place every other year, with the next Festival taking place for the week Saturday 16th – Sunday 24th June. The Festival appears to have been part of the parish’s activities for many years, certainly before the War, and an estimate of ‘modern Festivals’ would suggest this year’s is the 36th, although the organisers are not able to confirm this. It has long been an opportunity for businesses, organisations and clubs to promote themselves to the general public and also to the local residents.

The organisers ask local groups to arrange Open events where the public can visit them and see what they do and possibly become members of that group. With several thousand visitors during the week of events local businesses are able to put on a show and promote themselves whether it be a restaurant of which we have many, a pub, of which we also have many, or perhaps a ladies fashion shop.

The Festival begins on Saturday 16th June with day one of the Ecclian Open Gardens weekend, when local domestic gardens will be open for garden lovers to visit and enjoy. Admission and directions to the various gardens is available in the form of a programme which will be available at Eccleshall Library, in the High Street, between 9am and 4pm on the days of the event for £5. The proceeds of the event will help to fund the work of the the Ecclian Society for the community work that they carry out each year including the hanging baskets and Christmas Trees. The second day of the Open Gardens weekend is on Sunday 17th June.
