Tittensor’s Gary Freeman battled against the extreme heat over the weekend of 26/27 May as temperatures reached 32c at the Cheshire Oulton Park Circuit.
Racing his K4 Honda, Gary earned three 3rds and a 4th place in his club championship races whilst in the ACU 500cc race he battled to a fighting 3rd place finish to end up on the Podium against bigger 500cc machines.
Gary seen here riding an unusual Number 77 making progress through the field.
Gary told The Gazette
“Following a difficult Snetterton meeting in April due to weather conditions, we moved onto Oulton Park in Cheshire.
We could not have asked for better weather and as we have not raced there for some time we were treated to some good racing at the famous circuit.
Within the 350cc Twins class I managed 2 x 3rd positions and 1 x 4th position, this still leaves me lying second in the Twins championship after 3 rounds. I can see this being very close run championship through the season.
I also had to settle for 3rd 350cc in the ACU 500 race, giving me a podium again making it a podium in each round so far.
The weather goes from very cold one meeting to very hot at Oulton Park, which caused brake fade issues with the drum brake bike (Gromit) causing me to lose some time behind the second place man. This proved to be exciting to say the least, causing me to take detours on two consecutive laps on the same corner, however I stayed upright.
We have some engine issues we need to fix before the next round which is at Darley Moor on the weekend of the 7th and 8th of July and two weeks later we are off to Belgium for the Chimay Classic road races on the 21st and 22nd of July.”
The Next CRMC Championship round is at the Darley Moor Circuit over the weekend of 7th – 8th of July.
Good luck Gary!
