Garden Party celebrating 90 Years of the Equal Franchise Act

Stone Labour Party Women’s Group are hosting a Garden Party on 7th July at St Dominic’s Social Centre.

Jane Kelly told the Gazette

“The main thrust is to celebrate the Equal Franchise Act, and the difference it has made to women over the last ninety years.

There will be a special opening by a VIP, alongside our oldest and youngest members – the years between them spanning eight decades.

We will also have our very own wonderful 96 year old suffragette, it will be really interesting to get some historical context as wel as some tales of ‘the old days’!

The event, open between 1pm and 3pm, is open to everybody. We’d like as many people to come along and enjoy themselves as possible. It promises to be a wonderful afternoon!”
