Stafford Railway Circle Clubroom Open Day
Sunday 8th July, 11am to 4pm
Unit 9, Emerald Way, Stone Business Park, Stone. ST15 0SR
Come and see how we build and run model railway layouts, all of which are built to exhibition standard. Once a year we organise one of the largest model railway exhibitions in the country, which fills three large halls at the Staffordshire County Showground. It is regarded as one of the leading model railway exhibitions within the UK, with dozens of model railway layouts being exhibited, with large trade support, and visited by thousands of people.
If you are a railway modeller you may well find that being a member of the Circle adds to your enjoyment of the hobby. Not only can you take part in building, maintaining and running layouts rather bigger than you could manage to have in your home, but you will make new friends and enjoy the opportunity to acquire new skills and widen your interests. Got a problem with your own layout and would like help in resolving it? The Circle is where you’re almost certain to find someone who can help you with advice and experience.
The Circle was based in Stafford for many years, but it outgrew its somewhat primitive clubroom, and it moved its home to Stone, where it has a large modern clubroom on a trading estate just off the A34 at the Stafford end of the town. It is to this clubroom that the Circle is inviting anyone who thinks they might be interested to an Open Day on Sunday 8th July, between 11.00am and 4.00pm.
At the Open Day you will have the opportunity to see some of our model railways, both in exhibition condition and still in the course of construction, and have an opportunity to look around and talk to some of our members. Some of the club’s along with some of the members own layouts will be operational (see details below) and there is usually the chance to get to grips with operating one of them. Whilst it cannot be guaranteed, there is often the opportunity for you to bring your favourite locomotive and see it run on one of the layouts.
We will also have demonstrations throughout the day by experts, covering; Weathering, Ballasting, DAS clay modelling techniques and LED lighting secrets.
The gauges of the layouts on display are shown below.
‘0’ Gauge, ‘00’ Gauge, ‘N’ Gauge, ‘0:16.5’ Gauge and ‘EM’ Gauge.
