NHS staff and friends have raised £2,120 in memory of a colleague with a passionate concern for mental health.

Alex Bennett, who was a nurse and senior commissioning manager with Staffordshire Clinical Commissioning Groups, passed away last year.

Now 38 “riders”, mostly CCG staff (including Stone’s Harriet Summerfield) have raised money in her memory that will be donated to North Staffordshire Mind, which promotes and protects good mental health for all.

They all took part in a Vibeathon at G-Force Training in Stafford using static exercise bikes. They cycled for a combined 63 hours throughout the day.

Among them was Dr Marianne Holmes, Stafford and Surrounds CCG’s Clinical Lead and a GP at Hazeldene House Surgery in Great Haywood.

Marianne said:

“Alex contributed massively to the NHS, was passionate about improving the lives of patients and will be missed by us all greatly.

“We are raising money for North Staffs Mind, a mental health services provider and charity based in North Staffordshire that is working to create a better life for everyone with experience of mental distress. This is something Alex had a real passion for and supported.”

Anyone can still donate by going to Just Giving fundraising site that honours Alex Bennett.
