Eccleshall Christams Tree? People power gets to work

Jane Ryder and Dee Robinson with the petition

Jane Ryder and Dee Robinson have assembled a petition to support the installation of a large Christmas tree in the grounds of the toilets in Castle Street, Eccleshall, to further enhance the centre of the town.

Ultimately their hope is that a living tree might be planted there.

The support in writing and online has been magnificent with more than 1,200 signatures and was presented on their behalf by Councillor Peter Jones to the Eccleshall Parish Council.

The Ecclian Society is also involved, along with Councillor Jeremy Pert, who is speaking with the Borough Council to whom the land belongs.

Local businesses have donated a tree, lights and decorations.

During the festive season the Ecclian Society erects 65 trees in the town and the lights on them are officially turned on by Santa Claus.
