Sharon, activities organiser at Hilderstone Hall, stumbled upon this little conversation that created an amazing experience for 2 of their residents.
Sharon told us
“One day during a reminiscence session Mavis and Norman who live with us at the Hall were talking about never being Confirmed and felt that they had missed out and wished they had approached it earlier in life.
This then set me a challenge to try and make their wish come true so during our next visit from Reverend Marion we discussed their wishes and I asked if this would be possible, Reverend Marion was so excited and said leave it with me and off she went.”
The next day she contacted Sharon saying she had being in touch with Bishop Geoff, and expressed the wishes on behalf of Norman and Mavis and without any hesitation the Bishop said he would be delighted to come to the Hall and perform the Confirmation service in their own home for them.
It was all stations go with making and sending out invites to family and friends and some of the ladies did flower arrangements to be displayed for the service.
“What a wonderful overwhelming day it was with people from Hilderstone village, their families, friends and staff all attending to see a truly memorable service with Bishop Geoff and Reverend Marion proving wishes can come true at Hilderstone Hall.”
