Freeze on parking charges to give trading boost

Charges on Stafford Borough Council run car parks in Stone and Eccleshall are to be frozen for the coming year to help local traders.

There are 20 short and long stay cars parks in Stafford and Stone and the council is proposing that there will be no increase in prices next year.

It would mean an hour long stay will continue to be 60p in Stone and from £1 in Stafford. All the hourly tariffs will stay the same – as will prices for season tickets.

It will be the third year that charges have remained the same, which the council say will help support town centre retailers and businesses. Several have opened recently in Stone – such as BEAR, Alchemy 13 and B&M, opening soon.
