Good news from Stone Community Hub

Christmas Lunch

Once again this year Stone Community Hub will be providing a free Christmas meal to anyone on their own. The meal will be on 21st December from 12.30 – 3 pm at the Frank Jordan Centre. Last year both those attending and the volunteers had a great time. There were games, wonderful food, music and lots of conversation. If you would like to come, would like more information or would like to help out, please get in touch with Jo or Karen at the Hub on 01785 812417 / or by email info@stonecommunityhub.org For catering purposes numbers will be needed by 14th Dec. This is part of our Hub Grub initiative, now in its second successful year and sponsored by Stone Rotary, where once a week we provide a free hot meal to anyone wanting some company. The meal usually takes place on a Monday lunchtime, no referral needed.

A Little Bit of Christmas Cheer

Are you going to be on your own this Christmas? A Little Bit of Cheer will help place guests with hosts who can accommodate an extra guest (or two) either on Christmas Day or Boxing Day. We started this last year. A dozen people had more to look forward to and some firm friendships were formed. If you would like to be A Little Bit of Cheer guest please contact Stone Community Hub (details above).

Busy few weeks

We’ve had a busy few weeks starting with our well attended AGM on 1st November. We were then invited as VIP guests to the opening of the new B&M store. We were thrilled to be chosen by B&M staff. Thanks to anyone shopping in Morrisons on the 18th November when we raised an amazing £628.75 from a bag pack. Thanks also to Stone Festival for nominating us as the charity to receive profits from the Fret and Fiddle Christmas Concert on 30th Nov.

Volunteers

We are always looking for new volunteers to help out, not just at Christmas but during our regular opening hours of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 10am till 1pm at the Frank Jordan Centre. Our volunteers make coffee & tea, answer the phone, talk to the people who come in, help with the youth café, look after our IT systems, help repair people’s computers, help people with their CVs, give interview advice and practice, help with cookery groups, unpack and sort food donations, help with admin, run craft sessions, promote what we do and act as trustees. If you are interested in finding out more please contact us as above.

Thank you for your continuing support and Seasons Greetings to you all!
