New play area for village school

Proudly showing off their new pirate ship themed play area are members of St Peter’s School Council together with (adults from left to right): Julie Alexander (Headteacher), Peter Gomm (PTFA Chair), Jane Pearce (PTFA Secretary) and Laura Evans (Teacher and School Sport Co-ordinator).

The Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) at St Peter’s Primary School in Hixon has worked hard fundraising over the last two years to purchase a new state-of-the-art play area for the Key Stage 1 children at the school.

Members of the PTFA have raised money from summer fairs, the annual duck race, Christmas quizzes and children’s discos. They have also worked closely with several local businesses, including MeC Com, Steele Services, Selwood, Sandmaster, Taylor Wimpey, Bri-Stor and ALE who have all donated money towards the project.

The school has also benefited from generous donations from the local Parish Council and the County Council as well as funds from the Tesco ‘Bags of Help’ scheme.
