The organisers of the 2019 Festival and Carnival are determined to make this 50th event one to remember. With this desire comes a continual review of events, and that also means bringing in and trying new things, being totally inclusive in the process.
Ideas in the planning stage include the possibility of new individual events as well as new activities at Westbridge Park during Carnival Day. A local tug-o-war competition – for all ages and sexes if there are enough teams – is one possibility, along with more musical participation events as well as a whole host of the most celebrated and welcome events from previous years.
One of the ideas for December 2019, just before the 50th year ends, is to have a fancy dress Santa Bed Race around the town, starting and finishing in Market Square and underlining the true spirit of the festival – fun, laughter and a huge spectacle for the people of Stone and surrounding villages to enjoy while raising monies for local charities.
If you are one of those adventurous types who loves the Soapbox Race, then this event could be right down your street so to speak, but watch out for more details as 2019 unfolds.
