Newport Music Club introduce Astaria String Quartet – Saturday 19th January

Astaria String Quartet

Newport Music Club welcomes in the New Year by inviting ‘Astaria Quartet’ to Cosy Hall, Water Lane, Newport, TF10 7LD on Saturday 19th January at 7.30 pm.

The Astaria Quartet comprises Shulah Oliver (Violin), Kelly McCusker (Violin) Kate Bickerdike (Viola) & Sean Glide (Cello). The talented musicians are artists in residence at Huntingdon Hall Worcestershire. Their busy touring schedule has seen them performing throughout the UK, including recitals across Scotland for Enterprise Music Scotland and the ‘Argyll and Bute Concert Tours’, in Devon for Beaford Arts and in Shropshire for ‘Arts Alive’. You can find out more about their work by visiting their website astariastringquartet.com.

The quartet will celebrate Spanish and Latin American music, and will be bringing us music from Piazolla (Tango ballet & Libertango), Turina (Bullfighter’s Prayer) and a selection of tangos from Mclean. The concert will also showcase works by Kreisler an Austrian-born violinist and composer, one of the most noted violin masters of his day, who was known for his sweet tone and expressive phrasing. Astaria will be bringing us two of his great works – Schon Rosmarin and Libesleid. An evening not to be missed – do come along!

Adult tickets are £13 & £4 for students. Leaflets and tickets available at The Guildhall Tea Rooms, the Cook Shop (both on Newport High St), or from Hey Jude (Stafford Street), Cosy Hall (mornings only) or via the website www.newportmusicclub.org or Phone 01952 810584 for more information.
