In our February edition we ran a competition to win a signed copy of ROF Swynnerton – Bullets, Bombs & Roses, by Trentham author Graham Bebbington.
Congratulations go to Gazette reader James Went of Moddershall.
We had over 40 entries to this competition, proving that the interest in ROF Swynnerton is still very much alive.
Thank you to all those who entered, and if you’d still like to buy a copy you can get one from Thoughts in Stone, local bookshops, Trentham Gardens News Kiosk, or direct from the publisher priced at £9.95 (postage extra).

It’s the story of the Royal Ordnance Factory, Swynnerton and the ‘secret army’ of female workers (the so called ‘Roses’) without whose work and commitment in the face of extreme danger, Britain would not have won the war.
Their story is one of unsung heroism and yet to this day, they and those who worked in the country’s other munitions factories have not received the formal recognition they deserve for their vital contribution to the war effort.
The book is profusely illustrated with many rare and hitherto unpublished photographs, and there is a foreword is by Professor Christine King CBE.DL.,Vice-Chancellor Emeritus, Staffordshire University.
