Shoppers in North Staffordshire and South Cheshire are in for a real treat this month, thanks to the news that The Trentham Estate will be hosting a well-known regional Makers Market on Saturday, September 19, followed closely by a four-day national Contemporary Craft Fair from September 24 to 27.
The Makers Market is a new pop-up event for The Trentham Estate that will be located on the south side of the Shopping Village. It will showcase award winning local food, drink, art, craft producers and vintage artisans, as well as music, performance, and activities for mini market visitors.
Organised by the leading artisan market company in the North of England, which already hosts regular Makers Markets across the region, it will showcase original art, quirky modern craft, vintage, and plenty of artisan food and drink. As well as being able to stroll around the market it will also give shoppers the opportunity to meet the makers and – of course – sample some of the delights on offer.
Being staged between 10am-4pm, entry is free, and further details can be found at http://www.themakersmarket.co.uk
Just a few days later, Craft In Focus will be making a return to The Trentham Estate following the postponement of its Spring Fair due to COVID-19.
This event, a well-established contemporary craft fair, will be staged in semi open-sided marquees within the award-winning gardens at Trentham.
Craft In Focus has always been at the forefront of promoting the best of the UK’s designer makers, and their events have been named as the best of their kind by The Independent newspaper. This particular fair will feature around 100 of the UK’s finest contemporary craftmakers and artists; and visitors to the event will be able to buy some very special items for their homes and gardens – or as gifts for family and friends.
Stands will include textiles, paintings, furniture, metalwork, leatherwork, ceramics, jewellery, interior accessories, sculpture, glass, fashion and much more! All exhibitors have been carefully selected for their individuality and innovation in contemporary design, as well as outstanding technical ability.

The cost of entry to the fair is included in the price of admission to Trentham Gardens; and visitors can enjoy £6 tickets on the Thursday and Friday, using code CIFWEEKDAY; or 20% off if they visit on Saturday or Sunday, by simply using the code CIFWEEKEND. The Trentham Estate is also ‘home’ to the popular Trentham Shopping Village, which boasts its own eclectic mix of shop, cafes and restaurants.
“We’re thrilled to be bringing both an artisan market and a craft fair to Trentham in September. The Makers Market sees the return of markets to Trentham Shopping Village and we’re sure visitors will love the array of makers on offer when they visit. Then a few days later those visiting the gardens can enjoy an extra special treat as we welcome back Craft in Focus. They were a big hit within the gardens last year and we are sure visitors will be pleased to be welcoming them back again this year,” said Grant Mantle, Marketing Manager at The Trentham Estate.
