Eccleshall v Cammell Laird match report

Eccleshall 0 Cammell Laird 4

Eccleshall have now slipped to eighteenth in the First Division South following a run of three straight defeats as they conceded four at home to Cammell Laird.

Forward Bailey Thompson gave the away side the lead just before half time and would go on to score a brace as Cammell Laird ran out comfortable winners at Pershall Park.

The striker scored the first of his two after latching on to a low cross inside the Eccleshall box in what was a first half of little quality.

Cammell Laird then doubled their lead within minutes, Ryan Burke’s well-executed set piece was teed up for Johny Brannigan to strike in off the woodwork.

The away side continued their dominance in the second half and Thompson was on hand to score his second of the afternoon after being played through by Kyle Schorah.

The visitors made it four before the final whistle after an impressive run from Thompson who pulled the ball back for Schorah to poke home his first of the afternoon.

The Eagles have now lost three on the bounce conceding at least four goals in each fixture and as a result, have now slipped to third from bottom level on points with seventeenth placed New Mills.

Eccleshall face bottom-placed Stone Dominoes on Saturday in a local derby and manager Kyle Adams will be hoping for a much stronger defensive performance following their recent results.
